Introduction

I recently made a big fuck up with my Home Lab and accidentally wiped my entire backup drive. I had been using this drive as network attached storage for all kinds of things, backups, file storage, Plex media, etc.

In a panic, I frantically searched the Internet for recovery solutions and stumbled upon Disk Drill.

Review

Fueled by adrenaline and ginger ale, I quickly downloaded Disk Drill and began scanning my drive. What I appreciate about Disk Drill is how easy it is to get started. The user interface is intuitive and makes it easy to locate your drive and start scanning. The scanning process did take a while, approximately 72 hours; although, I was scanning through more than 3 TB worth of data on a RAID1 setup! Your mileage may vary depending on drive size, setup, and utilization. Once scanned Disk Drill offers you a handy preview of the files found and you can even open them to make sure they are still intact. Disk Drill allows users to recovery 500 MB of data with the free trial, full disclosure I did pay for Disk Drill Pro as I needed to recover much more bytes. At the time of writing this review, Disk Drill offers perpetual licenses for their Pro version which I greatly appreciate! I highly recommend this software to anyone who is in need of data recovery. Disk Drill rocks!! 5/5
